China security talks with Belarus, Uzbekistan

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met separately with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov and Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) foreign ministers' meeting in Bishkek on July 23, 2026. During the meetings, Wang emphasized security cooperation. With Belarus, China called for strengthening security cooperation and preparations to establish a development bank, and both sides signed a 2026-2027 consultation plan between their foreign ministries. With Uzbekistan, Wang encouraged more landmark industrialization projects, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, and urged use of the joint law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism. China also urged more solidarity and cooperation in multilateral platforms such as the UN, SCO, and the China-Central Asia mechanism.
