The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that Saadia Zahidi has been appointed by its Board of Directors as the ninth Director General, effective 1 November 2026. Zahidi, who is the first woman to hold the position, joins IATA from the World Economic Forum (WEF) where she served as Managing Director and Member of the Managing Board. Current Director General Willie Walsh will conclude his duties on 31 July 2026, and Sandrine Le Borgne, IATA's CFO, will serve as Interim Director General during the transition.
