Telangana DGP directs cyber security improvement

Telangana Director General of Police N. Anand held a video conference with officers from all police units on July 23-24, 2026, to review the implementation of Cyber Security initiatives, e-Zero FIR, and the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). He directed all unit officers to improve the state's performance across nine Key Performance Indicators monitored by the India — India and strive for a top position in national rankings. The India — India has expressed serious concern over increasing cyber frauds, particularly 'digital arrest' scams. The India — Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs periodically reviews states' cyber security preparedness. Telangana's current rankings include 13th in e-Zero FIR, 18th in Money Restoration (46.6% recovery), 15th in Cyber Security, and 8th in Capacity Building. The DGP appreciated the coordinated efforts of India — T-SPARK and the India — Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TCSB) for registering nearly 20 e-Zero FIRs in two days. He instructed officers to strengthen capacity building, intensify Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities, and make full use of CCTNS in cybercrime investigations. The meeting was attended by TCSB Director Shikha Goel, India — T-SPARK SP Rupesh Rai, SP Cyber Security Sai Sri, and other senior officers.
