Access Bank Group unveiled an AI-powered mobile application for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) at its maiden MSME Conference in Lagos, Nigeria, themed 'AI for SMEs: Scaling Through Digital Tools'. The event brought together entrepreneurs, government officials, and technology experts. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Entrepreneurship Development, Chalya Shagaya, urged SMEs to adopt AI, noting that President Bola Tinubu had approved a national AI policy and directed the Ministry of Communications to establish an AI hub. Access Bank's Head of SME Banking, Abiodun Olubitan, stated that MSMEs contribute about 50% of Nigeria's GDP and 84% of employment. Experts including Sunday Adebisi of University of Lagos Business School, Lanre Bamisebi of Access Holdings, and Glarry Gao of Huawei — Huawei Nigeria spoke on AI's role in business efficiency and growth.
