Naver, Nvidia, and Brookfield Asset Management announced a proposed expansion of South Korea's sovereign AI factory infrastructure. The initial Nvidia DSX AI factory deployment at NAVER's GAK Sejong data center will grow from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts by 2028, with a long-term goal of reaching 1 gigawatt. Nvidia plans to invest $1 billion into NAVER, and Brookfield has entered a nonbinding term sheet to fund up to $9 billion. The announcement was made during South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's AI Summit visit to San Francisco. The expanded infrastructure will feature Nvidia's Vera Rubin and Blackwell platforms, providing AI compute for Korean and U.S. innovators. NAVER is also advancing its HyperCLOVA X models based on Nvidia's Nemotron 3 Ultra open models and plans to launch an AI agent platform in Korea in the second half of the year.
