The scandal may increase political scrutiny on Ilhan Omar and could affect her reelection prospects, but direct market impact is limited. The fraud scheme involved $250 million in federal funds, potentially affecting public trust in government programs.
A Daily Wire investigation has revealed that Sahra Noor, sister of U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar, incorporated her consulting firm Grit Partners Consulting at a home in Lakeville, Minnesota, owned by Ahmed Ali and his wife Ister Ahmed Afraa. Afraa has business ties to multiple individuals convicted in the Feeding Our Future fraud scandal, the largest public theft in Minnesota history. Afraa co-founded Sunrise Business Center with Hanna Marekegn, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud for stealing $7 million, and incorporated Sunshine Care Center, which listed Feeding Our Future ringleader Feeding Our Future as a point of contact. Afraa also served as CEO of Aflah Property Inc., which operated out of the home of Sahra Nur, a key player in the fraud sentenced to four years in prison. The United States — Minnesota House of Representatives' Fraud Prevention Committee is probing Omar's possible involvement, but Democrats blocked a subpoena for her records. Noor has not been charged, and the report does not establish her or Omar's participation in the fraud scheme.
