India's first indigenous hydrogen fuel cell train, flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17, 2026, successfully completed a trial run covering over 1,200 kilometers between India — Jind and India — Sonipat, saving more than 3,200 liters of diesel. The 10-coach train generates electricity onboard through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, emitting only water vapor with zero carbon emissions.
