Gujarat Shipbuilding Policy 2026 launched

On July 27, 2026, the India — Gujarat government, led by Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, launched the India — Gujarat Shipbuilding and Repair Policy 2026. The policy aims to establish India — Gujarat as India's premier shipbuilding and maritime manufacturing hub. Key targets include attracting over ₹27,000 crore in investments, establishing two Integrated Mega Shipbuilding Parks, increasing shipbuilding capacity beyond 50 lakh Deadweight Tonnage (DWT), and providing skill development for over five lakh people. The policy aligns with the central government's Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme 2025 and Maritime Vision 2047. A mega greenfield shipbuilding cluster at Kuchhadi in Porbandar district has been approved by the central government, with the Gujarat — Gujarat Maritime Board preparing detailed project reports. The cluster is expected to attract ₹23,700 crore in private investment and ₹3,300 crore in common infrastructure. The policy offers fiscal incentives including capital assistance, stamp duty reimbursement, interest subvention, and a single-window clearance system. It also provides long-term lease periods of up to 50 years for large shipyards. The policy is part of the broader vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit India — Gujarat 2047.
