The fund launch signals strong international investor confidence in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East, potentially boosting private equity activity and capital inflows. It may positively impact Brookfield's stock and enhance PIF's role as a global investment hub.
Brookfield Corporation announced the first close of Brookfield Middle East Partners (BMEP), a new private equity fund anchored by Saudi Arabia's Saudi Arabia — Public Investment Fund (PIF), raising approximately $2 billion from strategic anchor investors including PIF and other global and regional institutional partners. Brookfield is committing $500 million to the fund. BMEP will invest across the Middle East with a focus on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) high-growth markets, targeting 50% allocation to Saudi Arabia. The fund will pursue buyouts, minority growth equity, and other opportunities in sectors such as financial, business and consumer services, industrials, technology, and healthcare. PIF's investment aligns with its strategy to maximize returns and deepen Saudi capital markets. Brookfield will also introduce the Brookfield Academy in Saudi Arabia. The announcement follows PIF's 2026-2030 strategy approval in April. Brookfield has been active in the Middle East for nearly three decades and has over $16 billion in managed assets in the region.
