Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has unanimously elected Anis Ahmed as its new chairman, effective July 27, 2026. Ahmed, founder and group CEO of MGH Group, a Singapore-headquartered multinational conglomerate operating in 26 countries, succeeds Showkat Ali Chowdhury. Prior to this role, Ahmed served on EBL's Executive Committee and chaired its Risk Management Committee. He outlined a vision focusing on digital transformation and promoting women in senior leadership.
