The Indian government, led by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, has set up a task force to boost the country's toy manufacturing sector and increase its share of the global toy market from 1.9% to 5% by 2032. The task force will focus on six areas: integration with global value chains, strengthening manufacturing capabilities, resolving bottlenecks, creating skilled workforce, enabling design and innovation, and enhancing ease of doing business. The government also launched a Toy Sector Playbook as a roadmap for manufacturers and exporters. India's toy ecosystem includes over 21,000 MSMEs, 770 DPIIT-recognized startups, 50 toy clusters, and 1,800 BIS licensees.
