The India — Indian rupee extended its upward momentum, rising 35 paise to 95.64 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, driven by lower crude oil prices amid easing geopolitical tensions. A weak US dollar index and positive equity market sentiment further boosted the currency. Brent Crude fell 1.43% to $87.10 per barrel as the US and Iran refrained from attacking each other for the third consecutive day, with mediators making progress toward negotiations. The dollar index was down 0.06% at 101.31. Domestic equity markets saw marginal gains, with Sensex up 0.02% and Nifty up 0.11%. Foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 1,688.23 crore on Monday.
