Iridium Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: IRDM) announced a strategic partnership with SkyWave Mobile Communications, an Orbcomm company, to integrate Iridium's global LEO satellite network and Short Burst Data services into SkyWave Mobile Communications's intelligent multi-network management platform and OGx IoT platform. The collaboration aims to help heavy equipment manufacturers build and scale resilient connected equipment services, enabling remote monitoring, diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and service support across global operating environments. The integration is underway, with Iridium SBD being embedded into SkyWave Mobile Communications satellite IoT terminals, allowing OEMs to access Iridium's network alongside cellular and Wi-Fi. The partnership initially focuses on heavy equipment OEMs but is designed to extend to other industrial verticals.
