The Canada Steamship Lines announced the delivery of MV Wontanara, the first of five state-of-the-art transhipment shuttle vessels (TSVs) built for the Guinea — Simandou iron ore project in Guinea. Designed by CSL and built at CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, the TSV has a 41,800-tonne deadweight capacity and a dual-boom self-unloading system capable of transferring up to 12,000 tonnes of iron ore per hour, making it the fastest and most efficient TSV fleet in the world. The vessel is purpose-built for river navigation with a shallow-draft hull, five azimuth thrusters, and bi-directional navigation capability. CSL led the development from concept to delivery, and the remaining four TSVs are scheduled for delivery in the coming months.
