The India — Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released its monthly Flash Report for June 2026, revealing that 1,847 ongoing infrastructure projects worth over Rs 150 crore each have registered a cumulative cost overrun of approximately Rs 4.92 lakh crore. The total revised cost of these projects stands at Rs 40.54 lakh crore against the original cost of Rs 35.62 lakh crore. The report highlights that 709 projects (39%) have achieved over 80% physical progress, while 337 projects (19%) have crossed 80% financial completion. The Transport & Logistics sector dominates with 1,341 projects and revised estimates of Rs 22.32 lakh crore. The India — Ministry of Road Transport and Highways leads with 1,022 projects, followed by the India — Ministry of Railways (India) with 255 projects. The report indicates steady progress in project implementation, with cumulative expenditure reaching Rs 21.97 lakh crore (54.18% of revised cost).
