Former India — Uttar Pradesh minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nanak Ram Bhurji died on July 28, 2026, after falling from the seventh floor of the Darulshafa new MLA Residence complex in India — Lucknow. He was 68. Police preliminary inquiry indicated he had been suffering from depression. His brother, former MLA Arun Gupta, alleged foul play and demanded a thorough investigation, noting the lack of visible injury marks inconsistent with a fall from that height.
