eBay settles Steiner harassment lawsuit

EBay Inc. agreed to pay $55.7 million to settle a lawsuit filed by David and EBay stalking scandal, founders of EBay stalking scandal, who were subjected to a harassment and cyberstalking campaign by former EBay employees in 2019. The settlement includes $46.15 million from EBay, $2 million from former CEO Devin Wenig, $500,000 from former executive Wendy Jones, and $50,000 from former executive Steve Wymer, plus $7 million in charitable donations. The Steiners were targeted after their newsletter published critical coverage of EBay. Seven former employees pleaded guilty to criminal charges, and EBay paid a $3 million criminal penalty in 2024. The settlement contains no confidentiality provision, allowing the Steiners to speak publicly.
