The update strengthens Arattai's competitive position in the Indian messaging market by enhancing trust and privacy. It may pressure rivals like Meta Platforms — WhatsApp to improve security features, but the overall market impact is limited as Arattai remains a niche player.
Zoho Corporation's messaging app Arattai has introduced an optional Aadhaar-based identity verification feature to curb impersonation and spam. Users can verify via the Aadhaar app to receive a green badge. The feature is voluntary and does not store Aadhaar data. Arattai also rolled out end-to-end encryption, encrypted cloud backups for Google Drive and iCloud, and a hide phone number option. The app supports 10 Indian languages and is positioned as a privacy-focused alternative to Meta Platforms — WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.
