Basilea Pharmaceutica Ltd announced on July 29, 2026 that the United States — Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) awarded an additional USD 30 million in funding after Basilea met a prespecified enrollment milestone in its Phase 3 program for the novel antifungal fosmanogepix. The funding comes under an existing Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) signed in September 2024, which has already provided USD 93 million. BARDA covers about 60% of total costs for fosmanogepix and BAL2062, with potential total non-dilutive funding of up to USD 268 million over 12 years if all options are exercised. Fosmanogepix is a first-in-class broad-spectrum antifungal targeting invasive fungal infections including aspergillosis and candidiasis, and has received Fast Track, Orphan Drug, and QIDP designations from the FDA. The Phase 3 FAST and FORWARD studies are ongoing. Basilea's stock (BSLN) rose 2.32% to CHF 53.00 on the announcement.
