The India — India reported that mobile phone exports surged 165 times from ₹1,500 crore in 2014-15 to ₹2.59 lakh crore in 2025-26, reflecting India's emergence as a global electronics manufacturing hub. Mobile phone production grew 33 times to ₹6.27 lakh crore, electronics production expanded nearly sevenfold to ₹13.11 lakh crore, and electronics exports rose 11 times to ₹4.24 lakh crore. Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the India — Lok Sabha that targeted policies, including the Semicon India Programme launched in January 2022, support semiconductor fabrication, display fabs, packaging, and chip design. Two companies, Micron Technology and Sahasra Semiconductors, currently produce memory chips in India. The Union Cabinet approved Semicon 2.0 to further strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem. Global memory chip supplies have tightened due to demand from AI servers and data centers, leading to firmer prices.
