The investment signals strong private equity interest in fiber infrastructure, benefiting Verizon's capital-efficient expansion strategy. It may boost sentiment for fiber-optic and telecom infrastructure companies, while increasing competition in the broadband market.

Bain Capital and Tillman Global Holdings announced a $1.5 billion investment in Eaton Fiber, an affiliate of Tillman, to accelerate the expansion of Verizon fiber broadband across the United States. The investment funds Eaton Fiber's acquisition of Ripple Fiber, a fiber-optic internet provider, and the next phase of network expansion. Eaton Fiber will build, maintain, and operate the network, while Verizon serves as the exclusive retail provider. The deal builds on a commercial agreement from October 2025 and is expected to close before the end of 2026. Verizon will acquire Ripple Fiber's existing customers and a portion of its network in North Carolina and South Carolina. Debt financing was secured from a syndicate led by Société Générale and SMBC Group, alongside BGIN Infrastructure, LLC. Lazard served as lead financial advisor to Ripple Fiber.
