Sanwo-Olu allocates land to 98 communities

Nigeria — Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented land allocation letters to 98 indigenous communities within the Ito-Omu New Town project area in Nigeria — Eti-Osa Local Government Area on July 29, 2026. The allocation covers communities along the Nigeria — Eti-Osa, Nigeria — Ibeju-Lekki, and Nigeria — EPE growth corridor, recognizing their ancestral rights and integrating them into the state's development plan. The initiative follows consultations that began in 2020 with traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents, and involved detailed mapping and planning by the Nigeria — Lagos State New Towns Development Authority. The governor also approved over N3.1 billion in compensation to project-affected persons. The allocation letters are intended to secure the communities' place in the development of the Lekki-Nigeria — EPE corridor, with promises of infrastructure investment including roads, bridges, and a water jetty. Beneficiaries were urged to avoid land speculation and collaborate with government agencies for orderly development.
