The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, inaugurated the DICON Institute of Technology in Kaduna, Nigeria, on July 29, 2026. The institute aims to train engineers, technologists, and technicians to support Nigeria's defence industry and reduce reliance on foreign military technology. A 240-kW solar power system was also commissioned at DICON headquarters. The event was attended by senior military officials, including Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Gwabin Musa, and representatives of Nigeria — Kaduna State. The institute is co-run with the Nigeria — National Board for Technical Education and listed with the Nigeria — Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
