The India — India and the Government of India — Madhya Pradesh signed an MoU on July 30, 2026, to establish India's first integrated Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior. The zone, spread over approximately 170-350 acres, will operate on a plug-and-play model covering design, manufacturing, testing, certification, and export of telecom equipment including 5G, 6G, optical fiber, semiconductors, and networking hardware. The central government will provide grant assistance of ₹493 crore (or ₹500 crore) for infrastructure. The project will be executed through a Special Purpose Vehicle with 51% stake held by India — Madhya Pradesh and 49% by the Department of Telecommunications. The state government announced incentives including nominal land lease, stamp duty reimbursement, electricity concessions, and capital subsidies. During an industry roundtable, companies including Dixon Technologies (India), HFCL, VVDN Technologies, Lava International, Optimus Electronics, Tejas Networks, and Syrma SGS Technology committed investments totaling around ₹3,500 crore, with potential to create over 14,000 jobs. The initiative supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, Digital India, and Viksit Bharat 2047.
