The acquisition strengthens Temu' position in the Southeast Asian AI services market, combining its enterprise reach with Thinking Machines' proven AI delivery expertise. This is likely to boost demand for AI implementation services in the region and may positively affect Temasek's portfolio, while increasing competition among AI service providers.
On 30 July 2026, Temu, a Singapore-based AI and digital transformation company established by Temasek, announced a strategic investment in Thinking Machines Lab (TM), a Philippines-headquartered AI and data company. TM will continue to operate under its own brand and leadership as 'Thinking Machines Lab, a Temu entity'. Founder and CEO Stephanie Sy joins the Temu leadership team as Managing Director of the combined Applied AI & Data team, alongside Sutowo Wong. The investment combines Temu' transformation delivery infrastructure, including its AI Foundry launched in May 2026, with TM's decade-long execution capability in building data platforms and deploying enterprise AI systems. TM, founded in Manila in 2015, has trained over 10,000 professionals, served over 110 clients, and is OpenAI's first official Services Partner in Asia Pacific. The combined entity aims to accelerate the move from AI pilots to production-grade deployment across Southeast Asia, serving clients in financial services, retail, healthcare, education, and government.
