The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appointed Qingfeng Zhang as its new Country Director for Bangladesh, effective July 30, 2026. Zhang, a Chinese national with over 30 years of experience in sustainable development and more than 20 years at ADB, will oversee ADB's operations in Bangladesh, one of its largest country programs with an active portfolio of about $12.5 billion. He will lead strategic policy dialogue with the Government of Bangladesh and guide the preparation of ADB's next country partnership strategy. Prior to this role, Zhang served as Senior Director of ADB's Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office. He holds a doctorate from Tsinghua University and executive education from Harvard Business School.
