Segun Aina becomes JAMB registrar

Segun Aina, a professor of Computer Engineering, assumed office as the Registrar of the Nigeria — Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on July 31, 2026, succeeding Ishaq Oloyede after a 10-year tenure. The handover ceremony took place at JAMB's headquarters in Bwari, Abuja. Aina, at 39, becomes the youngest registrar in JAMB's history. He was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in May 2026. In his inaugural address, Aina pledged to uphold integrity, combat examination malpractice, and strengthen the use of technology. He warned fraud syndicates and corrupt operators that their business is in the wrong institution. Aina also emphasized building strong institutional systems over individual influence and improving customer service. He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, and pledged collaboration with the Germany — Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. Aina has over 15 years of experience advising governments on digital transformation and has consulted for examination bodies including NECO and NABTEB.
