Maruti Suzuki India commenced commercial production at the fourth plant (Plant D) of its Hansalpur facility in India — Gujarat on July 30, 2026. The new plant adds 250,000 units of annual capacity, raising Hansalpur's total capacity to 1 million units, making it India's largest passenger vehicle manufacturing facility at a single location and the first Suzuki site globally to reach that milestone. The cumulative investment at Hansalpur stands at Rs 25,288.7 crore, including Rs 3,900 crore for Plant D. The plant will initially produce the e VITARA, Maruti Suzuki's flagship battery electric vehicle. Maruti Suzuki's total manufacturing capacity across India now stands at 2.9 million units per annum. The Hansalpur facility also serves as a major export hub, accounting for nearly 47% of the company's overseas shipments in FY2025-26. Managing Director Hisashi Takeuchi highlighted the role of the expansion in meeting growing demand and supporting the company's long-term target of producing 4 million units annually in India.
