Russia missile strikes on Kyiv kill 10

In late July and early August 2026, Russia intensified its long-range missile and drone strikes against Ukraine, particularly targeting Kyiv. On August 1, a heavy ballistic missile attack killed at least 10 people in the capital, with damage across seven districts, including residential buildings, a school, and the Lithuanian Embassy. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine had run out of MIM-104 Patriot interceptor missiles, leaving the capital largely defenseless against ballistic missiles.
