Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been awarded a US$150 million joint venture contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District (USACE) to design critical infrastructure for coastal storm risk management on the Charleston peninsula. In partnership with Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT), Stantec will lead the design of over eight miles of integrated coastal infrastructure, including storm surge barriers, floodwalls, levees, pump stations, and gate structures. The total program value is US$1.2 billion. The project aims to protect Charleston's 40,000 residents and historic landmarks from storm surge. Stantec's experience includes similar work in New Orleans, New York, and Texas.
