The integration strengthens Wise's competitive position in the Malaysian remittance market by offering faster and cheaper transfers. It may pressure traditional banks and money transfer operators to improve their services.

financial services payment processing

Wise, the global money transfer company, has gained direct access to Malaysia's national payments infrastructure operated by Malaysia — Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet). This integration enables Wise to support DuitNow QR payments and simplifies Malaysia — Malaysian ringgit transfers. Malaysia becomes the 9th market globally where Wise has direct access to a domestic payment system. The connection reduces reliance on traditional intermediaries, lowering costs and improving transaction speeds. Wise users can now scan and pay DuitNow QR codes directly from the Wise app, with the feature rolling out progressively nationwide. Additionally, domestic transfers can be made using a recipient's mobile number or NRIC with recipient verification. The infrastructure is also available to banks and financial institutions via Wise Platform.
