Palestinian authorities seek halt to $656M judgment

The Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestine — Palestinian Authority have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to halt a $656 million judgment in a long-running lawsuit filed by Americans killed or wounded in attacks in Israel. The emergency appeal follows a lower court reinstating the damages after the Supreme Court revived the lawsuits in 2025. The Palestinian authorities argue that paying the judgment would destabilize critical government services in the West Bank and jeopardize regional security. The lawsuit stems from attacks in Jerusalem in the early 2000s that killed 33 people and wounded hundreds more, brought under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
