The investment is expected to increase cargo volumes and revenue for the Nigeria — Nigerian Ports Authority, strengthening Nigeria's port infrastructure and trade capacity. It signals continued private-sector investment in Nigeria's maritime sector, potentially improving logistics efficiency and supporting BUA Group's industrial growth.
BUA Group announced an $85 million expansion of its BUA Ports and Terminals facility in Nigeria — Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The project, disclosed by Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu during a visit to the Nigeria — Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), aims to add about 600 metres of quay frontage and support the import of over two million tonnes of raw materials annually for BUA Foods' expanding operations. The NPA, led by Managing Director Abubakar Dantsoho, expects the investment to drive double-digit growth in cargo throughput and revenue, projecting 13-14% growth. The expansion is part of BUA's broader industrial strategy across food, cement, mining, and infrastructure, and is seen as a boost to Nigeria's eastern ports and overall port competitiveness.
