The acquisition is a modest strategic move to bolster Bank of America's cybersecurity capabilities, likely viewed positively by investors. The deal's small size and undisclosed terms suggest limited immediate market impact.
Bank of America announced plans to acquire MDSec Consulting Limited, an information security consultancy based in Macclesfield, England. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2026 pending regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed. MDSec employs approximately 65 cybersecurity professionals and provides technical information security consulting services. The acquisition will enhance Bank of America's cybersecurity capabilities in the UK and globally, complementing its existing operations in Chester, England, where it has over 1,400 employees and a cyber threat operations center. Kris Fador, Bank of America's Chief Information Security Officer, expressed enthusiasm for the deal, and Dominic, Co-Founder of MDSec, highlighted the opportunity to expand the firm's capabilities within a leading financial institution.
