UKPNP urges UN action on PoJK rights

The United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) has called on the United Nations and the international community to intervene over what it describes as a worsening human rights situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). In statements and a delegation visit to UN headquarters in New York, the party alleged that more than 100 Kashmiris have been killed since June 5, 2026, with hundreds injured and subjected to enforced disappearances by Pakistani security forces. It also reported violence on July 27-28, claiming around 40 deaths in Rawalakot, Mirpur, and elsewhere. The UKPNP urged the UN, governments, and human rights organizations to facilitate independent investigations, protect civilians, and ensure accountability. The delegation, led by Chairman Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri, presented demands including the lifting of curfews, restoration of internet and telecommunications, release of detained protesters, and implementation of the 38-Point Charter of Demands. The party called for dialogue between authorities and the Pakistan — Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee to achieve a peaceful resolution.
