The India — Telangana government issued orders on July 30, 2025, renaming the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Sanathnagar as the Dr Marri Chenna Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences, in honor of former Chief Minister Marri Chenna Reddy. The renaming was announced by Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha as a tribute to Reddy's contributions to the state. Additionally, the government appointed Dr A. Narendra Kumar, who retired as Director of Medical Education on July 31, as the In-charge Director of the institute, effective August 1, until a regular director is appointed. Dr Vani was appointed as the new Director of Medical Education, succeeding Kumar. The statutory name of the institute under the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 2024, remains unchanged.
