Moody Bible Institute announced that it is notifying individuals affected by a data security incident. On June 12, 2026, its cybersecurity system detected unusual activity on its computer network. The institute launched an internal review, secured its systems, notified law enforcement, and engaged a forensic security firm. It determined that due to a vulnerability in a software application, some documents were illegally acquired on or about June 12, 2026. On June 23, 2026, it identified the acquired files, which contained names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, other government identification numbers, and financial aid information. Most files require specialized software to view, limiting accessibility. The institute is not aware of any fraud or identity theft resulting from the incident but is notifying potentially affected individuals and providing guidance on protective measures, including monitoring credit reports and contacting the United States — Federal Trade Commission.
