India's developmental assistance to Sri Lanka has surpassed USD 7.5 billion, including over USD 850 million in grants, spanning all 25 districts. The announcement was made during a review meeting co-chaired by India — High Commission of Indiaer Santosh Jha and Sri Lanka's Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Anil Jayantha Fernando. Additionally, India affirmed support for the Colombo Plan during a meeting with its new Secretary General Chulamanee Chartsuwan. On July 14, India signed an MoU with Sri Lanka's Health Ministry Secretary Anil Jasinghe to provide SLR 600 million in grant assistance for medical equipment at the Deniyaya Base Hospital, part of a disaster preparedness relocation. This initiative is part of a USD 450 million package for reconstruction after Cyclone Ditwah. The assistance focuses on housing, healthcare, education, railways, energy, and livelihoods, with transparent execution using local resources.
