INEC Publishes 2027 Presidential Candidates Credentials

The Nigeria — Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the public display of Form EC9 nomination documents for candidates contesting the 2027 Nigerian presidential election, as required by the Electoral Act. The documents include personal particulars, academic credentials, and employment history of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other candidates such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. Notably, Tinubu's form lists only his university degree from Chicago State University, leaving primary and secondary education fields blank, which has sparked public scrutiny and controversy. The exercise aims to promote transparency and allows the public to challenge false declarations through legal means. The presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027.
