Jharkhand recruitment exam irregularities protests

Since July 25, 2026, students and job aspirants in India — Jharkhand, India, have been protesting alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the India — Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and India — Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). The protests, led by the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, demand cancellation of several exams, a CBI probe, and reforms. The agitation escalated with hunger strikes, marches, and clashes with police, leading to arrests and a BJP bandh. The government cancelled three JPSC exams, accepted resignations of three JPSC members, and initiated CID and ED probes. Former JPSC chairman L. Khiangte was arrested. Talks between the government and protesters have failed to resolve the deadlock, with protesters threatening further escalation.
