The launch is unlikely to have a direct impact on telecom operators' stock prices, as the app is voluntary and feedback is not used for punitive action. However, it may lead to improved network quality and customer satisfaction over time, potentially benefiting telecom service providers in India.
On August 3, 2026, the India — Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) launched a revamped version of its MyCall mobile application, designed to enable telecom consumers to rate voice call quality in real time and report network issues such as call drops, echo, and audio delay. The app, available on Alphabet Inc. for Android users, allows users to provide instant 1-5 star ratings, report specific problems, and conduct coverage tests. Feedback is shared anonymously with Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) and TRAI to help identify network deficiencies and improve Quality of Experience (QoE) alongside technical Quality of Service (QoS) metrics. TRAI Chairman A. P. Anil Kumar emphasized that the app is voluntary and will not trigger punitive action, which remains based on objective technical parameters. The app also features multilingual support via India — Bhashini and an interactive map for feedback history. This initiative is part of TRAI's broader consumer-centric, data-driven approach to telecom regulation.
