NIMS completes 1,000 robotic surgeries

Nizam s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad, India — Telangana, India, has completed 1,000 robotic-assisted surgeries in less than three years. The procedures were performed across three departments: Urology (590), Surgical Gastroenterology (248), and Surgical Oncology (162). Over 90% of these surgeries were provided free of charge to patients through government welfare schemes, including Rajiv Aarogyasri Scheme and the India — Chief Minister s Relief Fund (CMRF). The milestone highlights NIMS's growing expertise in advanced robotic healthcare and its commitment to making cutting-edge surgical technology accessible to all sections of society. NIMS Director Dr. Rahul Devaraj congratulated the medical, nursing, and support staff for their teamwork. India — Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha also congratulated the team and noted the government's efforts to expand robotic surgery services across public hospitals, including MNJ Cancer Hospital, upcoming TIMS Hospital, Sanathnagar, Gandhi Hospital, and the new Osmania General Hospital.
