Anthropic announced the expansion of its operations in India, making its Claude AI models available with in-country inference through Amazon Bedrock. This allows customer requests to be processed on servers located within India, addressing data residency and regulatory requirements for sectors such as banking, insurance, and government. The rollout is expected in the coming weeks. Anthropic highlighted India as one of Claude's largest markets and detailed partnerships with major enterprises including Axis Bank, NPCI, IndusInd Bank, Godrej Industries Group, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Cognizant, HashKey Technology Services, Swiggy, Zoho, and startups like Rocket, The Atlantic, and Freshworks. The company also plans to certify 5,000 professionals through its Claude Partner Network and is collaborating on cybersecurity and Indian language initiatives with organizations such as the Data Security Council of India, MOSIP, OpenG2P, and Karya. Anthropic's India managing director Irina Ghose and AWS India president Sandeep commented on the significance of the expansion.
