Nigeria and Israel reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation during the valedictory visit of outgoing Israeli Ambassador Michael Freeman to Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu in Abuja. Both countries identified security, defence, agriculture, food security, technology, innovation, and healthcare as priority areas. Nigeria seeks Israeli expertise in counter-terrorism, intelligence, border security, and technology partnerships for startups. Israel reiterated its commitment to expanding cooperation in innovation, agriculture, healthcare, security, education, and skills development. The current annual trade volume between the two countries is estimated at about $200 million, which both sides consider below potential. Separately, Nigeria's new Ambassador to Israel, Nkechi Ufochukwu, presented her Letters of Credence to Israeli President Isaac Herzog, formally assuming office and pledging to deepen bilateral ties.
