DP World, the Dubai-based global logistics company, is expanding its investment in Kenya by developing the Mombasa Industrial Park, a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) that will strengthen the country's position as a regional trade and logistics gateway. The 222-hectare industrial park will be located less than 20 kilometers from the Kilindini Harbour, with the first phase spanning 40 hectares. DP World signed an agreement with GulfCap Africa, a Kenya-based investment and development group founded by Suleiman Shahbal, to develop the project in phases. The project aims to address the growing demand for modern industrial and logistics infrastructure in East Africa, supporting manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution activities. DP World executives Yuvraj Narayan and Mohammed Akoojee highlighted the project's potential to create thousands of employment opportunities, attract new investment, and contribute to Kenya's socio-economic development. The agreement remains subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions precedent and completion of the formal signing process.
