NEET-PG cut-off audit committee

The India — Supreme Court of India, hearing a PIL challenging the drastic reduction of NEET-PG 2025-26 qualifying cut-off percentiles, took on record the Centre's constitution of an expert committee chaired by the India — Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The committee, formed via a July 23 office order, will audit the NEET-PG admission system, identify lacunae, and suggest solutions. The court granted eight weeks for the report and allowed co-opting members from the India — National Commission for Indian System of Medicine and India — National Commission for Homoeopathy. Petitioners argue the cut-off reduction violates Articles 14 and 21, while the government defends it as necessary to fill vacant seats, citing nearly 20,000 vacancies and a similar 2023 reduction. The NBEMS stated the revised cut-off made 95,913 additional candidates eligible.
