The launch of Descartes' AI-powered Free Trade Intelligence solution is expected to strengthen its competitive position in the trade compliance software market, potentially attracting new customers and increasing revenue. The positive reception could support Descartes' stock price, though the impact is likely modest given the niche nature of the product.
On August 4, 2026, Descartes Systems Group introduced its new AI-enabled Descartes Free Trade Intelligence (FTI) solution. The solution helps manufacturers, importers, and exporters lower costs by making more informed sourcing and trade decisions, particularly by qualifying goods for preferential tariff treatment faster, maximizing duty savings, and reducing compliance risk. It leverages Descartes' Global Logistics Network and a library of rules of origin covering over 250 regimes, combining rules-of-origin analysis, regional value content calculations, tariff shift logic, supplier declaration management, and explainable recommendations in an auditable workflow. The platform uses AI to analyze bills of materials, tariff classifications, and supplier declarations, and integrates with Descartes' Global Trade Intelligence suite and ERP environments. The solution aims to provide faster duty savings decisions, stronger audit readiness, less manual supplier outreach, and more informed production and purchasing decisions. Brian Hodgson, General Manager of Global Trade Intelligence, and Ken Wood, EVP of Product Management, commented on the benefits of the solution.
