Pakistan condemns Al-Aqsa incursions at Amman meeting

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar attended a ministerial meeting in Amman, Jordan, on August 5, 2026, convened by Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to address the deteriorating situation in occupied East Jerusalem. The meeting brought together foreign ministers from Arab League members and several Islamic countries, including Pakistan, to formulate a unified position on Israeli settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and broader Palestinian issues. Dar strongly condemned the incursions, stating that Israel has no sovereignty over East Jerusalem or its holy sites, and warned that such provocations risk dragging followers of different faiths into a wider conflict. He reaffirmed Pakistan's support for the Hashemite custodianship of Jerusalem holy sites over the holy sites and recognized the Palestine — Jerusalem Endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department as the legal authority. Dar also expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, noting that over 1,100 Palestinians had been killed since the ceasefire, and welcomed progress under the Board of Peace towards disarmament under the Gaza Peace Plan. He called for collective action to protect Jerusalem's holy sites, reject illegal settlements, and advance a just political solution. The meeting included a call on King Abdullah II of Jordan and bilateral meetings on the sidelines.
