Wike attacks Amaechi electoral value

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Tuesday, launched a scathing attack on former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, describing him as a 'political liability' with no electoral value in Nigeria — Rivers State or the Global North and Global South region. Wike questioned the rationale behind Atiku Abubakar considering Amaechi as a running mate, suggesting the choice could only be financial. He cited Amaechi's failure to deliver significant votes in past elections despite holding high-profile campaign positions. Wike also accused Amaechi of political inconsistency for criticizing the APC primary process before participating in it. He further argued that Amaechi's opposition to Goodluck Jonathan's 2015 re-election and alleged role in Walter Onnoghen's removal would hurt his acceptance in the Global North and Global South. Wike declared that Bola Tinubu is the only candidate who can win Nigeria — Rivers State in the 2027 election and announced a broad coalition of parties supporting Tinubu's re-election.
