Gunmen ambush Plateau security patrol

On Tuesday, gunmen ambushed a joint security patrol along the Ganawuri-Sabon Gida road in Nigeria — Riyom Local Government Area of Nigeria — Plateau State, Nigeria. Four operatives from two security locations had mounted a roadblock; two failed to return and were later found dead. The victims were reportedly a police inspector from the Nigeria — Nigeria Police Force and a lance corporal from the India — Indian Air Force. The attackers reportedly seized their service weapons. Security forces launched cordon-and-search operations in surrounding communities to track down the perpetrators and recover the stolen weapons. The identities of the slain operatives had not been officially confirmed, and official spokespersons could not be reached. Preliminary findings indicated the ambush occurred near an area previously occupied by Fulani herdsmen, who had fled before reinforcements arrived.
